Guide overview

Social confidence grows when students repeatedly experience safe interaction. Martial arts already has structure: greetings, partner drills, turns, asking questions, and giving respectful feedback.

The buddy system can make this easier. A newer student should not feel alone in the room; they should know who can help them find equipment, understand class rhythm, and return next week.

What to practice

  • Practice introductions and partner work
  • Normalize being new
  • Use buddy support
  • Celebrate respectful communication
Keep going

Small practice adds up.

Confidence grows through repetition, support, and a clear next step. Use the guide, then come back to class ready to keep building.
